What We Collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. Subscription tier (Free, Parent, Educator, Professional) is associated with your account.
Payment information
When subscription billing launches, payments will be processed by a third-party payment processor (e.g., Stripe). We will not store your credit card number or payment details on our servers. We will receive confirmation of payment status and your subscription tier only.
AI feature input
When you use the AI lesson planner or AI chat assistant, your prompts are sent to the OpenAI API and processed by OpenAI under their terms and data use policies. We recommend not submitting sensitive personal information through AI prompts.
Usage data
We may collect anonymized usage data (pages visited, features used, lesson views) to improve the platform. This data is not sold or shared with advertising networks.
Analytics
We may use analytics tools to understand aggregate platform usage. Any analytics in use are configured to minimize personal data collection.

- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, receipts, password reset)
- To improve the platform based on aggregate usage patterns

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising profiling.
Cookies and Sessions
We use session cookies to keep you logged in. These are strictly functional — no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies. You can clear cookies at any time; doing so will log you out.

AI and Your Data
The RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) chatbot uses vector embeddings of our educational content — not your personal data — to answer questions. Your chat prompts are sent to OpenAI's API and subject to OpenAI's data handling policies. We do not train models on your input.
Data Retention
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records).
Children's Privacy
Montessori.fyi is a platform for parents and educators — adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for children. The educational content covers child development, but the account holder must be an adult.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent for non-essential data processing

Security
We use industry-standard practices: encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls on our database. No system is perfectly secure — if you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
Material changes will be noted with a revised effective date. For significant changes, we will notify account holders by email.
